What this lesson covers
Create a sample customer, edit the name, verify it after reload, and inspect a duplicate-number warning on a new opportunity.
Before you start
Prepare a permitted test name and phone number. If deal value is unknown, do not invent a number merely to fill the form.
Follow the walkthrough
Complete and save the new customer form with a name and contact details.
Edit the name in the record, save, and reload the page.
Use the same number for another opportunity, inspect the existing-contact warning and review the earlier record.
Check the result
Match the name and phone number after reload. Inspect duplicate warnings before creating another contact.
Using this in your workspace
One customer can have multiple opportunities; a new opportunity does not always require a new contact. Review the existing record’s history and ownership.
